As automation increases in the energy industry, robotics plays an increasingly important role. Robots are now deployed in every area of oil and gas production, where they can improve safety by reducing the need for human personnel to undertake dangerous activities, increase productivity and decrease costs. OMS has many years of experience developing innovative technology for the oil and gas industry. We offer four robotic crawlers that can access and inspect welds in locations that have previously been unreachable such as stalk tie-ins and spool pieces, successfully navigating complex pipeline systems to reach welds as much as 1km from entry point. If you have welds that you think are impossible to inspect – OMS can inspect them.
OMS is currently building mini-robotic crawlers, the Agility Micro, to add to our fleet. Our new robots will broaden our capacity and extend the range of pipework we can inspect from internal diameters from 100mm to 1000mm. We are also in the process of developing a new grinding system, SmartGrind™, which will allow for simultaneous defect identification and repair. OMS crawlers carry our award-winning weld inspection technology, the AUGA.node, into position and can also be integrated with other modular systems depending on client requirements.
