OMS and PSSS win weld inspection contract on Jansz-Io compression project
OMS and PSSS, our Australian partner, have been awarded a joint contract to carry out onshore weld inspection services on the Jansz-Io spools project. Contracted by leading Australian EPC company, CIVMEC, OMS and PSSS will be inspecting welds in seabed tie-in spools with diameters ranging from 24” to 30”.
This is the first contract that OMS and PSSS will work on together. OMS Global Manager, Marcus Smiles, said, ‘The Jansz-Io spools are a vital component of the Gorgon gas project, which is one of the largest fields in the world. Our award-winning weld inspection system will ensure that welds on this project meet stringent specifications and help to install assets in the most efficient way. We are very pleased to be working with PSSS in our first joint contract and look forward to many more successful collaborations in the future.’
PSSS is excited to be working with the OMS team and their globally recognised technology. Michael Lee, PSSS Major Projects Manager, said, ‘PSSS has always been dedicated to innovation and the latest technologies to assist our customers execute and deliver the best possible project outcomes. Our collaboration with OMS and the opportunity to be a part of the Chevron Jansz-Io project is an excellent example of this and the start of many more!’
Owned and operated by oil major Chevron Corporation, the Jansz-Io gas field has been supplying gas to the Gorgon processing facilities since 2015. After ten years of production, its reservoir pressure will decline. The compression project will modify the existing subsea gas network to maintain gas supply over the long term.
