Corrosion Identification
Corrosion is one of the biggest challenges facing the energy industry. Pipelines in the energy industry carry inherently corrosive materials at high velocity, pressure and temperature through harsh conditions where they are subject to seawater and extreme weather externally. Corrosion causes metal to lose strength and impermeability, which can result in eventual – or sometimes sudden – pipeline failure. Estimated to be responsible for around 20% of all pipeline failures, identifying corrosion defects effectively is a vital part of pipeline management.
